It's located in town, just steps away from shops, restaurants and transportation. The Port of Woodbridge Bay, less frequently used, is about a mile north of the city. My absolute number one favourite excursion from Dominica cruise port, was to Titou Gorge. (Such a true favourite that I visited more than once.) The incredible gorge is high up in the mountains, and involves a steep drive uphill, and then a freezing cold swim to a waterfall at the end of the gorge. Morne Bruce is a big old hill overlooking Roseau, and if you haven’t got time to get out of the city, a hike up here makes a great thing to do while docked in Dominica cruise port.

The Kalinago Territory (formerly the Carib Indian Territory), in the northeast of Dominica, is where you will find baskets, wood carvings, pottery and natural soaps. A model village is located here and cultural preservation groups stage performances at this location. There is no government owned public transportation in Dominica. There are privately owned mini-buses that serve routes from Roseau to the villages on the island. The mini-buses will have a number plate that begins with an “H”. If you are along a bus route and see one of these mini-buses, you can flag them down by waving at them.

But if you want some fresh air, a peaceful walk in green surroundings, and the chance to see some wonderful tropical trees up close and personal, this is the place for you.
Mero, a volcanic gray-black sand beach, is named after the town of Mero, but it actually lies in the neighboring town of St. Joseph. Cruise lines and shore excursion operators offer few trips exclusively to beaches. Dominica is better known for its ecotourism attractions including waterfall hikes. The best Dominica beaches near the cruise port require some form of transportation to reach them. The beach itself is very rocky, with patches of black sand, but it’s the snorkelling opportunities that people come here for, not the sunbathing.
